First time visiting at a weekend. Dog friendly it turns out, which was great. As always, lovely coffee and delicious cakes. Relaxed atmosphere and nice decor. Can get a bit full of people on their Apple Macs during weekdays, so if that's not your thing when visiting a coffee shop then at least you now know.

Great coffee and good service. The cakes looked yum and they allow dogs. Tip - the sign on the door is not the one to walk through, use the door to the left of the window. Also the outside white garden tables belong to a different cafe.

I have spent the last week staying in The Music Room, holiday let, above the cafe. It is a Landmark Trust property, and the baroque plasterwork in the bedroom is exceptional, and took over 6000 hours to create / repair. This beautiful building sleeps two people, has a fully equipped kitchen, a good sized bathroom, a sitting area, and a roof terrace with views across the city. You are within a short walk to the shops, restaurants, castle, cathedral, everywhere. I shared a video on my YouTube channel: urbantiger6540 if you want a look around.

The Music Room is the place I love to come when in Lancaster. Tucked away through a side road / alley the Music Room is set in a little square buzzing with other coffee lovers. Being part of Atkinson’s coffee roasters you can guarantee your not going to get a brew made from stale beans or the bitterness produced by the major chains. Don’t miss out on a great flat white.

We stayed in the Landmark Trust rooms above the cafe. A wonderful experience. The cafe below is in the same building, rented out by Landmark Trust to the independent business who run it. They make really great coffee, strong but not bitter, and the Parkin was delicious too. Service is friendly and welcoming, and there is plenty of seating. If it looks full from the outside, do go in and ask as they have a mezzanine gallery up a flight of stairs with more tables.

A hidden gem. A lovely cafe nestled in a picturesque square. I had a Brie and chutney sandwich and a coffee, which were fabulous. It was a sunny day so I sat outside, but the inside of the cafe was really lovely too. The member of staff who served me was very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere!
